Paul gets into the ranger station. "Patty? Patty can you hear me?" Patty is sitting on the floor. She wants Paul to stay away, but he manages to get closer to her. He says he was worried about her when she ran away. He's just so glad she's alive. Patty shows him the spider bite. Paul wants to call to get some help, but she disagrees. She's done horrible things and she doesn't want to live without Jack. She begs her brother to let her die.
Paul is holding Patty in his arms. "There's no way in hell I'm gonna let you die. Can you imagine what mom would do if I did?" Paul says. Patty sobs as he gives her the anti-venom. "It's over. It's all over, okay?", Paul says. He kisses his sister, who tells him she's been bad, she's hurt a lot of people, although she didn't mean to. She just lost control. Paul kisses her again. He promises he'll take care of her. She should just relax, lie back and let the medecine work.
Patty has calmed down. Paul kindly tells her she can't keep running. She needs help, and it's a lot more than he can give her. So, he'll go with her, to turn herself in, and he'll make sure the police are kind to her. He won't abandon her. He promises. Patty agrees. Paul gets out, crying and calls Philip to tell him he's bringing his sister in.
At the police station, Philip says that Patty will be held and evaluated in a hospital outside of Green Bay. Patty sobs and says she's scared. Paul reassures her: they're gonna make her feel better. They're gonna make her feel like herself again. Philip wants to go now, but Patty doesn't want to give up the kitten she has taken care of since she ran away. Paul steps in. "I'll take the cat. Give me the kitty. Look at me. Patty, please." The cat is now in Paul's arms. Patty's taken away. Paul sobs.
