Paul and Carl

Paul and Carl are watching old family movies

Paul arrives at Carl's hotel. He wants to show old family movies to his father. Ruth thinks it's a bad idea, but Carl agrees to watch the films. Paul switches the light off and the projection starts. A little blond boy appears on screen. "It was my fifth birthday party", Paul explains. Carl watches attentively. A young baseball player is on screen now. "Is it you?" Carl asks. "Yes, it was my first baseball match", Paul answers. Carl learns from his son that he was the coatch. "You were a good baseball player", he says. Paul looks at his father. "Thanks to you Dad", he whispers.

The projection is over now. Paul wants to know what his father thinks about it. "I think you played baseball very well. I must have been very proud of you." Paul smiles. "You were", he says. "One day, I was training in the garden, and the ball flew through the window of the garage. I tried to get it back, but you got out of the house and you shouted "No". I was afraid you were mad at me. Actually, you didn't want me to get hurt. So you did get the ball back. But you cut your hand deeply." Paul holds his father's hand and he shows him a little scar. Carl said he always wondered how he got this scar. Now he knows it.

Paul wants to know if the movies or the scar help his father to remember his past. Carl answers it doesn't. Ruth wants Mary to be told about Carl. Paul disagrees. Mary thinks Carl is dead. Suddenly, someone knocks at the door. It's Mary Williams.
