Christine wakes up in hospital. She wants to know why she's here, and how long she has been unconscious. All of a sudden, she remembers being with Paul. Where is he? Is he fine? Olivia tells her that Paul is there too. He regains consciousness from time to time. Christine wants to stand up to see him. Olivia reluctantly agrees.
Paul is lying, unconscious. His mother is at his bedside. Christine cries, and she starts telling Mary what happened, but all of a sudden, Paul opens his eyes. He wants to know where he is. Christine holds his hand. She asks him if he remembers the car. Paul doesn't. So, Christine tells him how he pushed her out of the path of the car that was about to run her down. Mary is listening attentively. She's not pleased at all.
Paul tells Christine he's glad she's fine. She promises him that he'll recover too. Mary says she wants to spend time alone with her son. Paul protests. He's so tired, he would like to sleep. He also asks Christine to leave, but she disagrees. "Don't cry", he kindly whispers. "We are alive. Go to bed. I love you."
