Paul's drinking at Jimmy's. He tells Lauren that his sister is out of coma, but doesn't know anymore who she is. Paul looks depressed. Lauren knows how to make him feel better: she passionately kisses him.
Doesn't the kiss bring back memories? Sure, it does. Paul warns Lauren he's had too much to drink. "And to much to deal with", she adds. Paul is touched that Lauren cares about him. She replies she will always love him, and she knows he feels the same. "I do", Paul answers. Lauren wants him to stop beating himself up about his sister. He is the best brother and the best friend anyone could ever have. And he shouldn't stay in this sad and depressing place. She's going to take him home.
Paul and Lauren are in his apartment now. They sit down on the couch. She thinks the place needs a bicycle on the wall. They had one of those, in their place. "Those were happy times... a very long time ago", Paul says. Lauren answers he deserves to be happpy. Paul cries. He let so many people down: Patty, April, Heather, Christine, her... Lauren disagrees. She whispers she's here, and she's not going anywhere. She smiles, kisses him. Paul nods. Lauren kisses him again.
Paul stops Lauren's romantic advances and mentions Michael. "Michael! He could help you with Patty's situation", Lauren says. Paul doesn't want him to be involved in his sister's case. He's suddenly surprised about Lauren's behavior and asked if she's okay. "You're worried about me. You are the sweetest man ever", she answers. Paul wants to go on talking with her, but she's on her way out. "I love you. Call me", she says before leaving.
