Paul gets into Patty's room. His sister is asleep. Paul sits down next to her and he tries to wake her up. A note falls from Patty's hand. Paul reads it, opens the door, screams for help, goes back to his sister and takes her in his arms. "Don't leave me like this", he says. "Patty! Patty wake up! Wake up Patty!"
Actually, the woman that Paul is holding isn't his sister but Emily. Patty knocked her out, drugged her with the meds she had been stashing for more than a month, leaves her unconscious in her room and escarped from the mental hospital. Patty is at the Club now. She just died her hair. The phone rings. It's Paul. "Patty has hurt herself", he says. "I want you to get over to Memorial now."
Patty arrives at the hospital. Paul tells her she was the last person to see his sister. Did she tell her that she wouldn't be her doctor anymore? She did. And how did Patty react to that? She was upset at first, but she was fine when Emily left. Paul disagrees. "She wasn't fine when I left, and she wasn't fine when you did", he angrily says. He shows her the note Patty left. "I learned my doctor, the person I trusted more than anyone else in this world, was gonna marry my husband. She betrayed me. There's no reason to live." Paul takes Emily and Jack's engagement photo out of his pocket. "I found this in the papier-mâché house", he explains. "How did she get it? You promised me she would be protected! This is your fault, your responsibility! I told you about this time and time again! You wouldn't listen!"
Patty feels terrible about what happened. She prays that Paul's sister comes out of this and that her new doctor will do a better job that she ever could. "Why don't you get out of here, please?", Paul says, voice breaking. "Just leave me alone, and leave my sister alone". He cries. Patty goes to the door and then, she turns round. "Whatever happens", she says, "just know that your sister loved you, and that she knew that you loved her." Paul and Patty sadly look at each other before Patty gets out of the room, closes the door behind her and starts sobbing.
