Patty cracked up and finally admitted she wasn't Emily. Paul has soothed her. She asks him to help her to escarpe. He kindly answers he can't. Patty says she understands, and whipping a syringe out of the upholstery, she adds there is another way for her to leave. She's not going to stay here anymore and be caged like an animal. She advises her brother not to come any closer. She would be dead by the time he got here.
Paul whispers to his daughter to get some help. Heather gets out, leaving Paul and Patty alone in the room. "Is it the syringe you used on Emily?" Paul asks. "You didn't kill her", he adds. Patty answers she had too. There couldn't be two of them. And now, there won't even be one.
Paul tells Patty he doesn't want to lose her. He asks her permission to sit down. She nods her approval. He starts recalling their childhood. She remembers that he always tried to take care of her. "It's never gonna change", Paul says. "I love you". She loves him too. "So put the needle down". She can't. She hurt too many people. She adds he'll realize once she's gone he's better without her. Paul disagrees. He tells her he missed her and he suffered while Emily kept pushing him away.
"You know what Todd said when you tried to take your life the first time?" Paul asks. "He told me he couldn't believe it, because the Patty he knew had too much faith." Patty answers she hasn't faith anymore. Crying, Paul disagrees. "It's still there, Patty", he says. "Don't turn your back on your faith now, not when you need it most. Your faith will give you the strength. Trust me."
Patty can't believe she killed Emily. The doors opens. Emily appears with Jack and Heather. She tells Patty that her plan didn't work. She says she understands that Patty felt betrayed. And she hopes that one day, she will forgive her. Patty is stunned. She gives up the needle to Paul who gives it to Heather before holding his sobbing sister in his arms.
