A mysterious woman, named Mary Jane Benson arrives in Genoa in March 2009. She's in fact Patty Williams. Here are all the scenes she has shared with Paul since her return:
#9136 Friday May 1, 2009. Paul and Mary Jane run into each other at Katherine and Murphy's wedding.
#9137 Monday May 4, 2009. Paul introduces himself to Mary Jane. He is sure they've met before, but Mary Jane insists she doesn't know him before rushing out.
#9149 Wednesday May 20, 2009. At the coffee house, Paul tries to learn more about Mary Jane from Jack. Later, Paul knocks at Mary Jane's door.
#9150 Thursday May 21, 2009. Mary Jane agrees to have a drink with Paul at the club. He says he recognizes her laugh.
#9158 Tuesday June 2, 2009. Mary Jane hides when she sees Paul and Todd at Crimson Lights.
#9161 Friday June 5, 2009. At the Club, Mary Jane grabs Sharon. Paul and Nikki intervene. Later, Paul goes to Mary Jane's room. He tells her that something inside him tells him he should care about her.
#9164 Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Paul tells Mary Jane that he has dug into her financial background. She calls him a stalker. Later, Paul learns that Mary Jane Benson filed a complaint against him. He has to go to the police station for questioning.
#9165 Thursday June 11, 2009. Paul and Heather have a drink at the Club. Mary Jane approaches with a man. Paul is served with a temporary restraining order. Paul has to leave the Club. Later, in her room, Mary Jane looks at a photo of Paul. "I don't want to be ennemies with you, Paul", she says.
#9168 Tuesday June 16, 2009. At the coffee house, Heather tells Paul that Mary Jane Benson dropped the restraining order. In her room, Mary Jane has two fantasies about Paul. In the first one, he hugs her and she tells him it was hard for her keeping secrets from someome she had been so close to. In the second one, he is mad at her.
#9171 Friday June 19, 2009. At the club, Mary Jane explains to Paul that she over-reacted because of a stalker who followed her three years ago. Nikki comes back to their table to tell Paul she has to go. Paul would have liked to continue his talk with Mary Jane, but he realizes she left.
#9180 Thursday July 2, 2009. Mary Jane remembers her wedding to Jack. She's in fact Patty Williams. There's a knock at the door. It's Paul, but Mary Jane doesn't want to talk to him.
#9208 Tuesday August 11, 2009. Mary Jane goes into a confessional after seing Paul sad and alone at Jimmy's. She says she hasn't been kind to animals, she's lied, she's slept with a married man. She also saw her devastated brother today, but she didn't comfort him. She mentions her mother and her other brother who is a priest in Detroit. Father Todd, who is hearing the confession, realizes he is listening to his sister. "Patty, is that you?" he asks. But she's gone. Todd calls Paul to tell him that Patty is back in town, and she's in trouble.
#9210 Thursday August 13, 2009. Mary Jane hears Heather telling Paul that she would love to meet her aunt Patty.
#9215 Thursday August 20, 2009. Paul sees a blond woman going up the stairs at the club. He tells JT he thinks that was his sister Patty.
#9216 Friday August 21, 2009. Paul realizes that the blond woman wasn't Patty but Mary Jane. He stops her from getting out of her room, commands her not to move and is about to dial the phone. "I'm your sister", she says. Paul does believe her. "My sister Patty wouldn't hurt a child", he says. Mary Jane explains she had plastic surgery so no one would recognize her. Then, she sings a song he used to sing to her when she was a child. Paul realizes the truth. He puts his hands over his eyes and cries.
#9218 Tuesday August 25, 2009. Mary Jane is holding Paul hostage. He calls her Patty and tells her she can put the knife away; he's on her side. She wants him to stop talking and drive. He keeps questioning her, they argue, and Mary Jane ends up accidentally cutting him with the knife. She's scared. Her hands are over her eyes. She didn't want to hurt him. "Look at me" Paul says. "It's just a little cut. I'm gonna be fine." Mary Jane's relieved. Paul smiles. "You sounds like my baby sister just now", he says. They hear sirens and they finally take refuge in a church.
#9219 Wednesday August 26, 2009. Paul wakes up Patty who has been having a nightmare. At first, she's agggressive, but he finally manages to calm her down.
They chat about the past. Paul thinks that Victor has something to do with her return but Patty says she came back for Jack. Paul calls JT who arrives at the church with Heather.
She wants to see Mary Jane. Paul agrees and he introduces her to her aunt Patty.
Outside the chapel, Chance uses the megaphone to tell Paul to bring Mary Jane out.
Paul oppens the door and says she's not gonna surrender. So if the cops want her, they're gonna have to violate sanctuary.
#9220 Thursday August 27, 2009. Paul, Patty and Heather are in the chapel. Paul explains to Heather that Patty has been victimized time and time again. If he doesn't stand up for his sister now, nobody will. Patty talks about the baby she lost. Paul gets a call. He leaves to meet the press, after Patty promised him to stay in the church.
#9235 Monday September 21, 2009. Patty escarpes after shooting Victor. Paul finds his sister at the ranger station. She wants him to go away and to let her die, but he manages to approach her, calm her down and take care of her injury. He holds her in his arms and tells her she needs more help than he can give her; she has to turn herself in. Patty agrees. Later, at the police station, Patty reluctantly gives the kitten to her brother before following Philip. Paul stands holding the cat and sobs.
#9250 Monday October 12, 2009. Paul visits Patty at the facility. She's thrilled to see her brother, and she wants to come home. Paul tells her she can't, because of what happened to Tracy's daughter. Patty's glad that Tracy had a baby. John Abbott must be excited to have his first grandchild. Does Paul have a picture of the baby? He hadn't and says he'll be right back. Paul is devasted when Patty's doctor tells him his sister has had a complete psychotic break and may never recover.
#9257 Wednesday October 21, 2009. Patty is talking to Emily Peterson when Paul arrives. The two women are identical. Paul is stunned. Later, he learns that Emily was Patty's psychiatrist in Minneapolis.
#9274 Friday November 13, 2009. Paul and Patty are looking at an album from where they were kids. Patty tells Paul he has always been her hero. Paul disagrees. He wishes he had handled things differently at St. Jude's. She starts singing, so does he. She kisses his cheek, whispering she loves him. He says he loves her too. Later, Patty tells Paul that she would hurt Jack again if he tried to leave her for someone else.
#9279 Friday November 20, 2009. Paul and Patty discuss old memories. Paul is happy that Patty hasn't mentioned Jack once. He gives his sister a hug goodbye. After he leaves, Patty pulls out a drawing of Jack, and saying the last time they were together, he wasn't a very good boy, she mangles the eyes.
#9299 Tuesday December 22, 2009. Paul gives Patty some truffles and asks her what's wrong. She would like him to take her out just for one day. He says he can't. She seems to understand. Maybe next year, she says.
#9304 Wednesday December 30, 2009. Paul and Nina are paying Patty a visit. Patty talks about how wonderful her brothers are, and says that in the new year she would like to show everybody that she's not what they think she is.
#9306 Monday January 4, 2010. Patty wishes Paul a happy new year. She says it will be a great one for her and Jack.
#9307 Tuesday January 5, 2010. After Emily told Patty that she couldn't be her docter anymore, Paul comes in and hugs his sister.
#9319 Thursday January 21, 2010. Paul and Patty are playing cards. All of a sudden she becomes agitated as she recalls the way Jack treated her when they were married. Paul calms her and then talk to Doctor Peterson who thinks that Patty's meds must need to be adjusted. In fact, Patty doesn't take her pills anymore.
#9329 Thursday February 4, 2010. Patty loses her temper over a paper house she has been working on. Paul is able to calm her, by recalling good times they had at the lake. He tells her to remember those days when she feels bad.
#9330 Friday February 5, 2010. Patty throws a fit after finding out that Jack and Emily will get married soon in the church she and Jack got married years ago. She falls into Paul's arms as soon as he arrives at her room, and she tells him she wants to get out of this hospital. She doesn't like her life anymore. Paul calms her. He briefly talks to a doctor. When he cames back into his sister's room, Patty says "It's nice to see you again, Paul. I'm Doctor Emily Peterson."
#9333 Wednesday February 10, 2010. Paul visits Patty who doesn't respond until he calls her Doctor Peterson. At Paul's request, Emily Peterson comes to see Patty. Patty knocks her out and drugs her, saying she stole her life and she's taking it back.
#9334 Thursday February 11, 2010. Paul can't wake up his sister. He finds a note that Patty wrote and he panics: Patty tried to kill herself. Later, at the hospital, Paul said to Emily (who is in fact Patty), that his sister knew about Jack and Emily's engagement, and that she felt betrayed by the person she trusted the most in the world. He wants Emily to get out. She tells him he should know that his sister loved him, and that she knew he loved her. She leaves and cries.
#9335 Friday February 12, 2010. Emily is still in coma. Paul is at her bedside, thinking she is Patty. Todd offers to relieve him for a bit. Later, Paul enters the chapel and he rages at Emily, who is in fact Patty, for not telling Jack about his sister's suicide attempt.
#9336 Monday February 15, 2010. Todd is the minister at Jack and Patty's wedding, while Paul sees doctors stabilizing Emily.
#9345 Friday, February 26, 2010. At Paul's request, Patty arrives at the hospital. He apologizes for blaming her for the suicide attempt and he tells her that his sister squeezed his hand and tried to say "Emily".
#9346 Monday, March 1, 2010. Paul gets into his sister's room when he hears Emily screaming. Emily tries to explain who she is but Paul doesn't believe her. Patty leaves the room.
#9350 Friday, March 5, 2010. Paul wants his sister to be release to his custody. He asks Emily (in fact Patty) to support his decision, but she answers Patty needs to be locked away for a very long time. Paul leaves the Abbott mansion.
