Paul and Christine

Paul's wound

Christine is at a restaurant with Lynne and Danny. She's worried because Paul hasn't arrived yet. Would he have forgotten they planned to have lunch together here? A waiter comes and tells Christine there's a call for her. It's Paul. He is sorry but he won't be coming. He was just attacked, went to the hospital where his wounds were dressed. He assures his wife that she doesn't have to worry about him; he's fine now. Christine fills Danny and Lynn in before leaving in a hurry.

Christine is at the apartment now. "Paul, Paul..." she shouts. Paul slowly walks into the room. How does he feel? He's fine. He believed she would stay with Lynne and Danny. "You thought I would leave you alone after you were attacked!" Christine says. Paul assures her that he only has a few scratches. Did he eat? He didn't and he's not hungry. Putting her hands on his chest, Christine says she's going prepare a soup for him. Paul cries out with pain. "That hurts", he explains. Hard for Christine to believe it's only a scratch after that. She wants Paul to show her his wound. He reluctantly does. What is it under this dressing? Stitches. How many? About twenty.

Twenty stitches. It's quite a wound! Is it painful? "Only when you touch it" Paul answers, settling down on the couch. Christine sits down next to him. The questioning goes on: Could it be a revenge? How did it happen? Paul tries to reassure his wife. That was just a stupid accident. Christine disagrees. "Twenty stitches, that's not a stupid accident" she says. "I'm sorry but you're not Superman". Paul smiles. "That's not what you said last night", he answers. They furtively kiss. "Don't use that to change the subject" Christine says. "I love you. I wouldn't survive if something happened to you". Paul's fingers caress Christine's cheek. Nothing will happen to him. He cares about life too much. By the way, didn't she promise him a soup or something like that?
