1978
The first member of the Williams family appears on the show. His name is Paul. He is a teenager. Nikki is his girlfriend.
1979
After trying to break up Nikki and Greg Foster, Paul starts dating April Stevens.
1980
Paul finds out that April is pregnant with his baby. He joins a cult with Nikki. Peggy Brooks and Jill Forster are attracted to Steve.
1981
When Heather becomes gravely ill, Paul decides to marry April. Heather recovers. Peggy ditches Steve at the altar. Soon after, Steve leaves Genoa City.
Patty dates singer Danny Romalotti.
1982
Carl and Mary worry about their daughter Patty who dates Jack Abbott. The young couple gets married.
Carl is on suspension from the police force. Paul infiltrates the mob to clear his father's name.
He falls in love with a young protitute named Cindy Lake, who helps him in his searches.
1983
Patti miscarries after seing Jack and Diane making love. Later, she shoots Jack at his office. He recovers. Patty finally divorces him and leaves Genoa City.
The mob, except Tony DiSalvo is put behind bars. The charges against Carl are dropped.
Cindy takes a bullet meant for Paul. She dies in his arms at the hospital.
1984
Neil Fenmore hires Paul to find out who shoplifts at Fenmore's. Paul catches the robber who is Neil's daughter Lauren.
He falls in love with her and he marries her.
1985
Paul wants to start a family, but Lauren prefers pursuing her singing career.
Shawn Garrett gets interested in Lauren.
1986
Lauren reluctantly divorces Paul and moves in with Shawn Garrett. Understanding that Lauren was still in love with Paul, Shaw burries her alive in San Francisco.
Paul and Andy are successful in saving Lauren, but the young woman miscarries. Paul and Lauren reconcile. Lauren submits a nude photo of Paul to a magazine that published it as a centerfold.
1988
Paul meets Cassandra. He gets romantically involved with her. He discovers later that Cassandra is one of his client's wife!
1989
Cassandra assures Paul she loves him and she will divorce George. But George finds out that he has a terminal illness and that Cassandra is cheating on him with Paul.
He plots revenge. Soon after, he is discovered dead from a bullet wound and the incriminating evidence has Paul's finger marks on it. Realizing he was framed, Paul fakes his death,
and works to prove his innocence with his father's help.
1990
Paul and Carl are successful in exposing Cassandra's lover Adrian as George's killer.
1993
Michael Baldwin tries to rape Christine. Fortunately, she is rescued by Paul who shoots and wounds Michael.
Paul realizes that his former wife April is the victim of spousal abuse. With Christine's help, he persuades her to attend a support group of battered wives.
1994
Paul supports Christine after she received a break-up's letter from her husband Danny Ramalotti.
Christine and Paul travel to Viet nam where they find Luan's son Keemo.
April kills her husband Robert Lynch. During the trial, Heather stays at Mary's. Paul promises his daughter that he would take care of her if April had to go to jail.
But thanks to her lawyers Christine and John (Silva), April doesn't have to serve time. As soon as her trial is over, she decides to go back to New-York with Heather.
1995
In order to get rid of Danny's ex-wife, Phyllis runs over Christine and Paul. This "accident" leaves Paul temporarily impotent. Lauren guesses Paul's problem. She promises him to take care of him and she does...
Paul finally recovers.
Paul is hired by Victor to prove that Nick didn't shoot Matt Clark. Paul locates Matt's ex-girlfriend Amy Wilson who shot Matt because he had raped her.
1996
Paul catches Christine and Danny making love. He is devasted, but finally, he forgives Christine and he starts dating her again.
Mari-Jo Mason shoots Victor. A few months after, she kidnaps Christine who is rescued by Paul and Victor.
Paul and Christine's wedding takes place in August. Christine learns from Mary that Paul has a sister Patty, who left Genoa years ago.
1997
Phyllis's friend Sasha dies. Paul and Christine are convinced that Sasha had a secret connected to Phyllis, so they investigate her. Paul discovers that Sasha used to work for the laboratory where Danny's paternity test was done.
Paul and Christine come to the conclusion that Danny isn't Danny Jr's biological father. They insist that Danny asks for a second paternity test. He does and he discovers that Paul and Christine were right. He decides to divorce Phyllis
and he asks Christine to be his lawyer. She agrees. As for Paul, he is able to find Danny Jr's biological father Brian Hamilton and to make him testify at Danny Jr's custody trial.
1998
Thanks to Christine, Danny wins Daniel's custody's trial. But his fight isn't over: he wants Christine to come back in his (love) life.
Paul and Christine break up, but finally, Christine understands that Paul is the man she loves. Paul and Christine reunite.
Mary is depressive. Paul, Christine and Lynn arrange for her to meet Charlie Ockwell at Yves.
Christine goes to Romania for work. When she comes back, she briefly talks to a man at Norfork airport. Later, she realizes that this man looks like Mary's husband Carl.
She questions Paul about his father's disappearance, she does some searches and she finally finds Carl Williams, whose new name is Jim Bradley, and who has been living at Norfolk with Ruth for years.
Unfortunately, Paul who was upset about Christine's incessant trips to Norfolk, follows his wife and finds himself face to face with his father who couldn't recognize him. (Carl suffers from amnesia).
Paul shows Carl family pictures... to no avail. Carl can't remember his past. He wants his son to stay out of his new life. Paul throws himself in his father's arms, then he leaves.
Moved by Paul's act, Carl decides to go on a trip to Genoa City. He attends Christmas mass, and all of a sudden, while looking at Mary and Paul, he has a flashback of himself, Mary and their two young children Paul and Patty at the church.
1999
Paul sees Carl at Gina's restaurant. He asks his father to follow him to Gina's office. Carl tells Paul that a few memories came back:
he remembers attending Christmas mass with his family, reading little Paul his favorite story. Paul and Carl decide to spend time together without telling Mary.
They watch old family movies and start bonding. Ruth is not happy with that. Knowing that Charlie and Mary would be at Gina's she asks Carl to go with her to this restaurant.
Mary sees Carl and faints. Paul takes care of his mother. When she wakes up, he tells her she didn't dream: her husband is alive.
Carl and Mary spend time together, but Carl can't get his memories back. So, at Mary's request, Carl goes back to Norfolk. Paul is sad.
Christine tells him that spending time with the family made her realize what a wonderful father her husband will be. She wants to have a baby. Paul is moved. He kisses her.
Cassie's custody's trial starts. Christine represents Sharon and Nick while Michael Baldwin represents Alice. The Newmans finally win Cassie's custody, but Christine's exhausted.
She rushes to Paul and cries in his arms. Later, Victor tells Christine he wants her to go to a seminar in Hawaï.
She comes back three months later, and feels completely unsatisfied with her job.
Victoria Newman hires Paul to investigate her mysterious stalker.
2000
Christine agrees to work with Michael Baldwin. Paul is furious, but he finally decides to support Christine's decision.
Victoria is kidnapped by Garry. Paul and Nick rescue her.
Christine tells Paul she's not ready to become a mother. Paul is disappointed. He becomes standoffish with his wife.
Christine asks Paul to go with her to Hong Kong. At first, he agrees, but a few weeks after, he changes his mind.
2001
Christine goes alone to Hong Kong. A few months later, Paul plans to visit his wife, but a new client, Isabella Brana is in serious trouble because of her ex husband James.
Paul agrees to help her. She even moves in Paul's apartment after she had been attacked. That makes Christine angry, so instead of coming back as soon as her case is over in Hong Kong,
she accepts a job in Australia. Paul is upset. Isabella, who had in fact been hired by Michael from the begining to prevent Paul from going to Hong Kong, tells Michael she wants to leave Genoa.
Michael disagrees. Paul and Isabella get closer. They make love, but unfortunately, Christine catches them. She files for divorce. Lauren comes back to Genoa City. Seing how devasted Paul is, she decides to stay in town.
Isabella finds out she's pregnant. She confides in Lauren. She also starts dating Michael, then she tells him he is the father of her baby.
2002
Lauren wants Paul to have a talk with Isabella. He does and he understands he is the father of her baby. Paul and Isabella move in together.
Mary tries to team up with Lauren, and then with Christine in order to break up Paul and Isabella, to no avail. She only makes Paul mad at her.
Paul and Christine receive their final divorce papers. Isabella wants to marry Paul as soon as possible, but Paul isn't ready. Isabella gives him an ultimatum: he marries her or he moves out.
Paul returns to his apartment and is stunned when Christine appears. They kindly talk, and then, they kiss. But Paul's phone rings. Isabella doesn't feel well. Christine urges Paul to go to her.
He brings Isabella to the hospital and she gives birth to a baby boy, Ricky. Christine tells Paul she's going back to Australia. Paul and Isabella get married. Paul runs into Christine at Gina's.
She tells him she changed her mind about leaving Genoa City. Things get worse when Christine arrives with Michael Baldwin at Victor and Nikki's wedding. Paul confronts his ex-wife, but instead of answering his questions, she kisses him passionately.
Mary and Lynne break into Michael's office in order to learn about Isabella's past. Unfortunately, they get caught. Invited by Isabella, Christine attends Ricky's christening. Michael arrives later and announces that Christine and he got engaged.
Paul hits him. Later, he has a talk with Christine at their old apartment, then he follows her into their bedroom. She kisses him. He takes her down on bed. The day after, Christine leaves Genoa City.
Paul helps Jack to get Phyllis out of jail.
2003
Paul confesses to Isabella that he cheated on her. Christine returns as Kelly Simmons, but Paul recognizes her. He begs her forgiveness for what happened the night of Ricky's christening.
Learning that Paul was about to move to L.A. with Ricky and Isabella, Christine stops by his office. They say goodbye and wish good luck to each other. But before eloping Christine, Michael confesses that he hired Isabella to prevent Paul from visiting her in Hong Kong.
Christine wants to see Paul who is already in L.A. She finally finds him on the beach. She explains to him how Michael and Isabella plotted the demise of their marriage. Paul is devasted. Christine agrees to stay with him.
They have a long talk, then, they make love on the beach. At the same time, Mary slaps Isabella for her evil plot with Michael.
Paul tells Isabella he wants to divorce her. He moves in with Christine. Isabella and Christine vanish. Blood is found out at Isabella's apartment. It belongs to Isabella. Christine comes back, unable to remember what happened to her.
Later, she starts having nightmares, while evidences are found against her. She starts thinking she killed Isabella, but Paul is convinced she's innocent. One night, Isabella enters Christine's apartment and tries to kill her. Fortunately, Paul, then Michael arrive and are able
to save the blond lawyer. Relieved, Christine falls asleep in Paul's arms.
Christine refuses to marry Paul. So, he moves out of Christine's apartment and starts to spend time with Lauren. Mary isn't happy with that.
2004
Paul, Todd and Mary celebrate Mother Day at the GCAC Restaurant. Paul helps Michael to prove that Kevin didn't electrocute Brittany. Christine agrees to work with Michael again, but she wants Paul to join them.
Michael reluctantly agrees. Seing that Lauren and Michael are getting closer whereas Paul still has feelings for Christine, Paul and Lauren break up.
2005
Paul dates Ashley from time to time. He discovers that John Abbott's new wife Gloria is in fact Kevin's and Michael's mother. Michael is furious. He wants to fire Paul but Christine disagrees.
Daniel is arrested for Cassie's death in a car accident. Paul finds proof that Cassie did drive the car, not Daniel.
The yacht where Michael and Lauren were spending their honeymoon explodes. Lauren is missing. Unlike Michael, Paul doesn't think that Tom is guilty.
He collects prints in Jennifer's room and he learns that they belong to Sheila Carter. Paul explains to Lauren's son Scotty that his friend Brenda is in fact his mother's enemy Sheila.
Understanding that Sheila wanted to kill Lauren, Tom kidnapped the two women and he holds them prisoners in a bombshelter.
2006
Paul saves Lauren at the farmhouse. He helps John Abbott to prove his guilt in Tom's murder. Paul and Ashley break up. Paul and JT find out Brad Carlton's real identity. Paul meets with Maggie Sullivan.
Paul holds Sheila (who had plastic surgery to look like Phyllis) prisoner in a cage.
2007
Paul dates Detective Maggie Sullivan. She feels something is bothering him, so she tracks him down. That leads her to the warehouse.
She let Sheila go. Sheila hits Paul, shoots Maggie and locks them in the cage. She then kidnaps Fen, Summer and Phyllis. Lauren finds them and shoots Sheila to death. Maggie recovers.
Heather comes back to Genoa as a new A.D.A. Paul tells Maggie that Heather is his daughter. Paul and Maggie get stuck at Clear Spring with Noah, who is badly injured and Lauren who suffers from panic attacks.
They are all rescued. After this misadventure, Paul finally tells Heather that she is his daughter. She's mad at her father and asks him to stay out of her life.
However, she accepts to spend Christmas Eve with Paul and Maggie.
2008
Maggie disappears without an explanation. Thanks to Paul, Heather gets hired by Nikki at Jabot. She meets Adam and she starts dating him.
After an argument with Jill, Heather asks for her father's help to investigate Ji-Min's murder again. Paul finally finds out that Nikki's new husband David Chow is the murderer.
He immediately gets Nikki out of the Gala, and worrying about her weird behavior - David poisonned her drink- he takes her to the hospital in time.
Thanks to Paul's work on Ji-Min's case, Heather gets her former job at the D.A.'s office back. Paul and Nikki start spending a lot of time together, and end up making love.
Heather and Adam move in together after Victor's supposed death. But Victor comes back and he gets his youngest son out of the ranch, and out of NE.
In order to make his father pay, Adam forges Victor's diary and uses Heather to send him to jail. Paul tries to warn his daughter several times about Adam, to no avail.
Heather finally realizes what Adam did. She arrests him. Paul kindly comforts Heather.
2009
Heather finds out that Adam is losing his eyesight. She tells Victor who manages to get his son out of jail. Prisoner at the ranch, Adam starts dating Heather again.
Paul worries about his daughter. He thinks that Adam will treat her as badly as Victor treated Nikki.
At Katherine and Murphy's wedding, Paul runs into a mysterious woman named Mary Jane Benson. He introduces himself to her and tells her he's sure they've met before,
but Mary Jane is adamant: she doesn't know him. Paul starts investigating her and ends up being served with a restraining order.
However, while looking at Paul's picture, Mary Jane says she doesn't want to be ennemy with him. Later, she remembers her wedding with Jack: she's in fact Patty Williams.
Paul proposes to Nikki. She says yes, but when she realizes that her heart belongs to Victor, she calls off the wedding. Heather confronts Adam about the note that Nikki gave to Paul
before leaving the church: Nikki saw him kissing Rafe. Is he gay? Heather breaks up with Adam. Mary Jane goes into a confessional, without knowing that the priest listening to her
confession is her brother Todd. But when he realizes this was his sister speaking, she has already gone. He calls Paul to tell him that Patty is back in town, and she's in trouble.
Paul finally found Mary Jane, who tells him her true identity: she's his sister. Paul is devasted. Patty kidnaps him, and stabs him accidentally. She panicks but Paul reassures her:
it's just a little cut. And he's finally able to bond with her again. They take refuge in a church. At Victor's request, Gloria and Jeffrey kidnap Patty, but Colleen finds her.
Patty escarpes, taking Colleen hostage. She let her go after getting bitten by a spider, but Colleen accidentally drowns. Patty shoots Victor three time before runing away.
Paul finally finds her, takes care of her and convinces her to turn herself in. Patty is held in a mental hospital. Paul often visits her.
